John Tinniswood, World’s Oldest Man, Dies at 112

John Tinniswood, born in Liverpool in 1912, the same year the Titanic sank, passed away peacefully at a care home in Southport, England, surrounded by music and love. Aged 112, he held the Guinness World Record for being the world’s oldest man, a title he earned earlier this year.

Having lived through two world wars and two global pandemics, Tinniswood credited his longevity to simple luck, often remarking, “You either live long or short; it’s out of your control.” He led an active life, serving in the Royal Army Pay Corps during World War II, and later worked as an accountant in the oil industry before retiring at 60.

Known for his love of fish and chips, Tinniswood stayed mentally sharp, managing his finances and staying updated on current events. He was admired for his intelligence, calm demeanor, and engaging conversations. He leaves behind a daughter, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
